Favourites of 2018

Can you believe 2018 is done and over with? Time really does fly. I thought it would be fun to look at all the products I have loved in the past year and talk about the ones that I used the most and still love today. All of the products listed below are products I have purchased and used from January to November 2018.

Cocokind Organic Rosewater Facial Toner $23

If you are looking for a gentle toner that is very hydrating, look no further! The Rosewater Toner is perfect for dry and/or dehydrated skin. I have tried a lot of toners in my life and this one has got to be my favourite. This is really calming on my skin and I get no redness or sensitivity reaction from this toner. It does have a rose scent but I love the smell of roses so it doesn’t bother me. Cocokind is a newer brand for me and what I love most about them is their minimal but healthy approach to ingredients.

Tatcha Essence Plumping Skin Softener $114

This Essence has changed my skin for the better. It is such an expensive item but there is not a doubt in my mind that this is something that I will repurchase. I use this product once a day, more specifically at night, after I have cleansed and toned my skin but before I apply any serum and moisturizer. The Essence is filled with Japanese superfoods that improve the skin’s texture, moisture content and cell turnover. I have been using this product since August and I have not yet used half of the bottle!

Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer $62

A life changing primer! Usually I’m not impressed by primers but this is one I love. A little goes a long way with the Silk Canvas Primer. Like the name says, it leaves your skin leaving smooth and soft like silk.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter $50

Such a beautiful and versatile product! I love the glow this gives to my skin. The Flawless Filter can be used on its own, as a primer or my personal favourite way – mixed into the foundation. I use this every single day and I still have a lot of product to get through. Every single time I recommend this to someone, they end up loving it just as much as I do!

Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation $69

By far the best foundation for my sensitive and dry skin! It is really hard for me to find a great foundation that does not irritate my skin and I am so happy I took a chance on Ilia and their lovely foundation! The Skin Serum Foundation has a really beautiful creamy texture that is easy to blend out with a natural finish.

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti Pollution Sunshine Drops $44

I love looking bronzy and I go crazy for any products that deliver that. The D-Bronzi Drops are so pigmented and give the skin a very natural sun kissed look. I love mixing this into my foundation but it can be mixed into a primer, serum or oil. When I first bought this, I went a little crazy and used it on a daily basis. Because it is so expensive (30ml for $44) and it is winter time in Canada, I try to hold off and limit myself on how often I use this.

Hourglass Illume Sheer Colour Trio $75

How many times will I blab about the trio??? I know this is loved by many but it is truly a beautiful cream palette. I do my best to exercise restraint and not use this on the daily since it is winter, but I think about using it. And I look at it. This cream trio blends out so easily! If you love cream products and looking radiant, you need this. Hourglass is the real deal, boys and girls. A true luxury brand that blesses us with high quality makeup!

Fenty Beauty Yatch Lyfe Match Styx $31

Yatch Lyfe is a beautiful pink with peach and touches of gold. This product can be used all over the place but I love wearing this on the cheeks as a blush. It is really easy to use and blend out with your tools or your fingers. Personally, I prefer using my fingers because the heat from the fingers blends the product on to the cheeks for a glow and lived in look!

Fenty Beauty Sand Castle/ Mint’s Mojito Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo $44

I keep this highlighting duo in my purse for that extra pop! Not only is this a gorgeous highlight but it doubles as an eyeshadow as well. Whenever I’m in a rush or my plans change, I grab this and pop it on my face and eyes for a little something extra.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette $55

I know a lot of people have their own opinions on Subculture but I love this palette. The colour story is so beautiful and inspiring. I will admit, it is not the easiest palette to use but I feel that a little goes a long way with it. It’s very rare for me to grab an older palette to use but I find myself still reaching for Subculture!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette $55

This palette makes me so happy, I just love the colour story in this one as well! The purple, pink and rose gold shades compliment my brown eyes in such a feminine way. It’s such an easy palette to use and the colours give enough direction to create beautiful looks.

Hourglass Aura Scattered Glitter Eyeshadow $38

Another product I have talked about way too much. Aura is my favourite shade from the Scattered Glitter range. I love the tiny glitter and the high quality of these eyeshadows. The best way to apply them is using the fingers.

Hourglass Smoke Scattered Glitter Eyeshadow $38

Smoke is a gorgeous cool toned gold. This colour is great for creating every day looks or glamorous/smokey eyes. If you love neutral shades, you will love Smoke!

ColourPop Glass Bull Eyeshadow $5

This is such a fun colour with a gorgeous colour shift. It catches the light so well and it looks great on all eye colours!

ColourPop Frog Super Shock Eyeshadow $5

Whenever I feel that my eyes are looking a little lack lustre, I pop on Frog and it makes the eyes look so much better. Frog has the most beautiful sparkle because it’s filled with multi-coloured glitters. Not to mention it looks gorgeous on it’s own!

Hourglass Caution Mascara $34 Mini $17

I love this mascara because it does not move or smudge. It’s not waterproof so it won’t be difficult to remove with a makeup wipe, which is a bonus!

Fenty Beauty Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb $23

I feel like everyone uses this lipgloss and that’s because it looks good on everyone and it is easy to wear. I love using this on my bare lips and I have even worn it before bed… excessive, I know. I love how moisturizing the Gloss Bombs are!

Fenty Beauty Diamond Milk Gloss Bomb $23

Diamond Milk is so glamorous! I love the pearl glitter and the way it shines on the lips. Out of all the Gloss Bombs, this one is my favourite!

Fenty Beauty Vaycray Iridescent Lip Luminizer $40 (comes in a set)

VayCray is such a beautiful pink/peach/gold shade that screams summer to me! The formula is so thin and non sticky. I love pairing this gloss with lip liner or lipstick, especially with any kind of pink tones.

What were your favourites of 2018?

Wishing you all an amazing 2019!
